Re: Giveaway thread!
I liked the original The Stand by Sephen King, did not care for the added stuff when he revised. I also have read all of Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series, except for the last book......not sure if it is out yet, lol.

I love the Stand, though the only version I have ever read was the extended version.

Re: Giveaway thread!
just acquired two small parakeets. like I really need more pets. it was either I take them or they were going to be turned loose.. Hubby and I agreed that was not going to happen.......
Queenie just sits and watches them.. so she is quiet and non running for a change...lol. They are from the household where we got her, so she kind of remembers the noises they make, lol

Re: Giveaway thread!
I had a Red-Cheeked Conure about 15 years ago - they said he didn't talk. Boy, were they wrong. LOL - his name is Roscoe - and that's about all he'd say, but he said it ALOT!!! I was going into a new job and would be away from home more, so I gave him to a friend of mine who has Chrone's Disease, and is home all the time. Roscoe is quite happy, and I get to visit. He has a little bigger vocabulary now too - he says Hello, and Love (sort of). But he's a happy bird!

Re: Giveaway thread!
well that is a good thing. I was not expecting the two parakeets. been so long since i have had a bird for a pet that I had to go read up on what they ate besides the birdie seed.......
oranges, apples, grapes, spinach, watercress, hard boiled egg, peanuts, wow...the paper says even dog food..... did not recall any of the birds I have had liking dog food........peaches, berries, cottage cheese (that would be very messy, I would bet).......

Re: Giveaway thread!
And I just re-read your posts, Bobbie, and am OUTRAGED that some foul "person" would consider just turning loose 2 birds who have no idea how to behave in the wild. That is just heinous!!
O you should name the toad Quiggle!!! What a great pet!

Re: Giveaway thread!
the couple were up in years and could barely take care of each other. If nobody had wante d them, they were going ot turn them loose. she has health issues and they both have alot on their minds, they would forget to feed them..... I am not defending them I can understand them... Their daughter and her kids only want to mooch off them..... This way they can come visit and the birdies are better off. they are eating some watermelon right now.....

Re: Giveaway thread!
When I was I HS a couple of macaws escaped their owner...they lived quite happily for several months before they were finally caught. It was quite the sight to see and hear these giant colorful tropic birds fly over head...but there was a lot of concern that if they weren't captured they wouldn't survive the wnter. Fortunately they were finally captured in mid fall.
